LPS CSAP Growth
On July 21, 2008 the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) released new school and district data based on 2006-07 school-year data from the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP). According to the CDE four-page July 21 news release [PDF 35KB], the data, which include median growth percentiles for each school by district, are useful for benchmarking district and school performance. That news release provides awareness for Colorado's Growth Model and presents background and history information. The CDE "2007 Colorado Growth Model District & School Reports" website page explains what the model measures and how to read the school achievement and growth charts. The CDE proficiency-growth scatterplots are powerful displays of school effectiveness with regard to student learning. That page also contains links to school-by-school growth charts for each school category (elementary, middle, and high) for all districts in Colorado. The Littleton Public Schools data link refers to each CSAP subject (math, reading, and writing) tested. The ICAN one-page tabulation [PDF 11KB] shows LPS 2007 CSAP growth for all 26 LPS schools. The CDE 2007 School Accountability Report (SAR) scores (Overall Academic Performance Index, or OAPI) are excerpts from the ICAN "SAR Ratings" page. The P+A% and Growth% data are excerpts from the above July 21 CDE link for LPS data. These LPS SAR scores examples are strongly illustrated by the July 21 CDE 2007 growth data:
On August 21, 2008 CDE released 2008 Colorado Growth Model summary data for districts and schools. According to the CDE two-page August 21 news release [PDF 18KB], displays of the data on interactive graphics are planned for publication on the CDE website by mid-September, 2008. In the meantime, the "2008 District and School Diagnostic Growth Summaries" for 2006, 2007, and 2008 are available at this CDE website page. The 24-page LPS section [PDF 314KB] has a separate page for each LPS school. Most of each page is district data, as shown by this Ames ES example [PDF 24KB]. The ICAN one-page tabulation [PDF 12KB] shows LPS CSAP growth for each LPS school and district grade-level (ES, MS, and HS) growth. The CDE 2007 School Accountability Report (SAR) scores (Overall Academic Performance Index, or OAPI) are excerpts from the ICAN "SAR Ratings" page. The growth percentile data are excerpts from the above August 21 CDE link for LPS data. On November 21, 2008 ICAN noticed that CDE had released (unannounced) new displays of growth data for 2008 and slightly revised 2007 growth charts of median student growth percentiles for each school by subject. The revised ICAN one-page tabulation [PDF 12KB] shows LPS CSAP growth for each LPS school and district grade-level (ES, MS, and HS) growth according to that new data for each school. Additional information is available on the ICAN "LPS CSAP Schools" page.
