[JPG 138KB]  The official City of Centennial (CoC) website has these main categories: City Services, About Us, Living, Doing Business, and Leisure.  The home page also includes these quick links: Mayor & Council, Employment Opportunities, Sales Tax, Shop Local, Ordinances & Hearings, News Releases, E-Services, Municipal Code, GIS Map Gallery, and Contact Us.

The CoC About Us website page has some information in several categories: State of Our City, History, Demographics, Visioning, Stimulus Grants, Contact Us, Annual Report, and News Releases.

The City of Centennial elected officials are Mayor Randy Pye, City Clerk Linda Gawlik, City Treasurer Susan Bockenfeld, District 1 Council Members Rick Dindinger (also Mayor Pro-Tem) and Betty Ann Hamilton (who resigned August 15, 2009 due to her no longer living in District 1), District 2 Council Members Sue Bosier and Keith Gardner, District 3 Council Members Patrick Anderson and Rebecca McClellan, and District 4 Council Members Todd Miller and Ron Weidmann.

The next Centennial municipal election and a special election will be held on November 3, 2009.  Six city officials (mayor and five city council members) will be elected as noted on the CoC Elections page.

The previous Centennial municipal election was held on November 6, 2007.  Six city officials (city clerk, city treasurer, and four city council members) were elected.  There also was a ballot question that was decided to pursue status as a home rule city by forming a charter commission.  A vote against a charter commission would have meant Centennial would have remained a statutory city.  On the same day, voters elected 21 members who will serve on the charter commission since the voters approved the formation of the commission.  The other ballot question was decided to limit the city's payroll deductions to benefit contributions, tax-exempt charities, and deductions required by law or court order.  Additional information is on the Centennial 2007 Municipal Election page.

The CoC staff of about 51 persons includes City Manager Jacque Wedding-Scott, City Attorney Bob Widner, Assistant City Manager Mike Connor (also Acting Finance Director), Planning and Development Director Wayne Reed, Public Works Director Dave Zelenok, Communications Director Sherry Patten, Deputy City Clerk Brenda Madison, Economic Development Manager Corri Spiegel, Human Resources Manager Marie White, and Court Administrator Penny Verhoeff.  A one-page organization chart [PDF 955KB] is available.

The principal municipal services of public safety and public works had been provided by Arapahoe County government as initially specified in a three-year intergovernmental agreement (IGA) commencing January 1, 2004, as outlined in the two-page January 26, 2004 Board Summary Report [PDF 26KB] to the Board of County Commissioners from Shannon Carter, Director of Strategic Programs.  The 22-page IGA [PDF 81KB] approved February 2, 2004 has three attachments: a four-page Exhibit A [PDF 39KB] (2004 public works work plan), a 41-page Exhibit B [PDF 102KB] (2004 city budget), and a two-page Exhibit C [PDF 30KB] (2004 public works labor and equipment hourly billing rates for discretionary services).

As stated in the county's October 25, 2007 one-page news release [PDF 46KB], Arapahoe County transitioned its public works services to Centennial during 2008.  The two-page Letter of Agreement [PDF 50KB] that was signed by Arapahoe County and the City of Centennial "... is intended to guide the parties' relationship toward a mutually acceptable resolution of existing issues and to best protect the health, safety, and welfare of the parties' respective communities...."  Centennial now is contracting with the private sector (CH2M Hill OMI) for various public works services.

The CoC website lists the meeting schedule and location for the city's committees, boards, and commissions: Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, Board of Review, Liquor Licensing Authority, Youth Commission, Open Space Advisory Board, Audit Committee, Budget Committee, Investment Committee, and Land Use Committee.
