Website Use

Navigation links are provided by six methods:

  • below the ICAN header at the top of every page (i.e., Home, Feedback, Contents, and Search as the four main ICAN buttons, and Up [to next level, not top of same page] as one more button on pages below the top and second levels);
  • below the page title banner on every page except Home (e.g., Up, News, and Services as ICAN same-level buttons);

  • in the left-side margin on most pages (e.g., Education, Government, and Other Services as ICAN lower-level buttons);

  • at the bottom of every page (e.g., Home, Education, Government, and Other Services as ICAN lower-level hyperlinks, and Up as one more hyperlink on pages below the top and second levels);

  • within the text on some pages (as hyperlinks to other ICAN pages or other websites); and

  • on the Contents page (as hyperlinks to all pages on the ICAN hierarchal site map).

Documents usually are provided as PDF (Portable Document Format) files, which can be viewed and printed by the Adobe® Reader® program.  First-time PDF users may need to download and install this free program.  Document file sizes in kilobytes are noted like this: [PDF xxxKB].  Other document formats are noted by DOC for Microsoft Word, XLS for Microsoft Excel, and PPT for Microsoft PowerPoint.

Images usually are provided as JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) files, which can be viewed and printed by nearly all browsers.  Clickable thumbnail images are automatically displayed to inform the viewer of their availability for full-size selection.  Image file sizes in kilobytes are noted like this: [JPG xxxKB].

Abbreviations are defined on the Abbreviations page.

Changes are identified by three methods:
  • Future major changes are noted by the "under construction" symbol:

  • Recent major changes are noted on the ICAN News Page.

  • Latest changes to any page are noted at the bottom of the page by use of the "Last modified: month/day/year" entry.
